Restore Your Smile
To “restore” is to bring back to a former condition. This may include crowns, fixed bridges, implants, tooth-colored fillings, or custom life-like dentures and partials. Cosmetic procedures such as porcelain veneers and bonding can help to restore and make your smile the way it was meant to be – Beautiful! Relief from jaw joint (TMJ) pain
TMJ therapy can include splints of various designs which can help correct poor bites, decrease muscle hyperactivity, or reduce damaging habits such as clenching or grinding. This can also be followed by a bite adjustment or restorative dentistry if needed.
Nitrous oxide
Nitrous oxide, often referred to as “laughing gas”, can be used in the dental setting to help reduce anxiety and make dentistry a pleasant experience. Nitrous oxide is a gas and works rapidly to cause sedation without putting the patient “under”. It can be easily adjusted for the patient’s comfort and safety and can be used to minimize gagging for those patients with a strong gag reflex. With nitrous oxide, many patients report that they can actually relax during their dental visit.
Bad breath (Halitosis)
There’s no way around it, bad breath can be very embarrassing; but not to worry, we can help! Halitosis is mainly a result of poor oral hygiene which has led to an accumulation of plaque and tarter on the teeth. If you don’t floss and brush twice daily, you are especially prone. Once your teeth have all the plaque and tarter deposits thoroughly removed, we can show you the best oral hygiene techniques to achieve a healthy mouth and fresh breath.
Inta-Oral Camera Makes You a Part of the Team
One of the ways we bring this about is through the use of a high-tech tool, the Intra-Oral Camera. This amazing device is a miniature video camera that displays a close-up picture of the inside of your mouth. You can see for yourself what work needs to be done and which teeth are doing fine. You then become a participant in each dental decision. You’ll love how this works!
VELscope™ Screening Technology
We have always conducted annual comprehensive oral cancer screenings for our patients, but we recently incorporated a breakthrough technology that will allow us to see things unable to be seen previously. This exciting new technology, called VELscope™, utilizes a narrow band of safe, high-energy blue light to help thoroughly evaluate the oral tissue for abnormal areas of concern, such as potentially cancerous lesions. We care about your health as well as your teeth, and are now offering this to all patients during their annual oral examination. We believe that this new technology will assist us in catching abnormalities before they turn into cancer.
Digital x-rays
Bayside Dentistry employs the use of digital x-rays to capture images of the entire mouth for cavity and disease detection. Now you can see your x-rays quickly on a television monitor right in the treatment room. This state of the art technique allows us to enhance x-ray images which aids diagnostics and provides easier communication with patients, specialists and insurance carriers.
